From Halloween to Christmas: Indiana Tours Valencia's Themed Tours

From Halloween to Christmas: Indiana Tours Valencia's Themed Tours
OCTOBER 2026
Schools, organizations for people with physical and intellectual disabilities, and even individual families join us in costume in Valencia, Peñíscola, Gandia, and Cullera. And since the magic doesn’t end in October, we’ll also tell you how we celebrate Christmas on our tours—and why now is the time to book yours.

Do you know the origin of Halloween?

Halloween has its roots in Samhain, a Celtic festival that marked the end of the harvest and the beginning of winter.

For the Celtic peoples, on that night the boundary between our world and the spirit world grew thinner, so they lit bonfires and left food outside their homes to protect themselves and honor the dead. With the arrival of Christianity, the festival gradually blended with All Hallows’ Eve, from which the name we know today derives.

It was Irish immigration to the United States during the 19th century that brought these traditions across the Atlantic, where they evolved into the festival of costumes, carved pumpkins, and trick-or-treating now celebrated around the world, including in Spain.

What’s interesting about this origin is that, without realizing it, it fits perfectly with what we do at Indiana Tours all year round: turning history into something you experience, not just something you hear about. Halloween originated from telling stories around the fire to explain the unknown, and that is exactly what we aim to do on each of our dramatized tours.

How We Experience It at Indiana Tours

When Halloween rolls around, our tours take on an extra touch of intrigue and camaraderie. We dress up, the little ones come in costume too, and Indy’s staging fits naturally with the spirit of the holiday—his car is decorated with pumpkins, skulls, and other festive items. The children are fascinated by the production. No need for horror—just mystery and plenty of participation! Just like the rest of the year, but with an extra dose of suspense.

We’ve experienced this with all kinds of groups. With schools that take advantage of Halloween week to get out of the classroom and enjoy a different kind of activity. With organizations for people with physical and intellectual disabilities, who find in the production a different—and, as always, creative—way to participate. We also work with individual families who book the tour as a group outing to spend an epic afternoon together. In all three cases, the result is the same: an experience that, even after Halloween is over, people still remember.

Tours That Change With the Season

This isn’t just a one-time exception for Halloween—it’s how we operate all year round. Every Indiana Tours tour is adapted to the season: the setting changes, certain details of the staging change, but the mystery and the group’s participation always remain. Just as we theme our tours for Halloween, we also theme them for Christmas, and the staging adapts to the Christmas spirit without losing even a bit of the adventurous spirit that defines us.

And here’s what’s important for anyone reading this right now: December is a short month for schools, and the best dates—the ones that let you choose a day and time at your leisure before the holidays begin—fill up fast. If you’re already thinking about ending the quarter with something truly memorable, now is the time to check the calendar and lock in a date for your school field trip.

If you’re part of an association or group that organizes activities for its members, Christmas itself is your moment: those days when the nostalgia of the season blends with the excitement of creating unforgettable memories. Imagine experiencing it together with Indy… without a doubt, a special Christmas to remember.

Where to Experience It

You can enjoy this experience at four destinations in the Valencian Community. In Valencia, where we began in 2021, touring the historic center. In Peñíscola, starting in 2023, with the castle as the backdrop and its picturesque streets. In Gandia, starting in 2025, with the “Territorio Borgia” tour taking you to places like the Collegiate Church of Santa María or the Palau Ducal dels Borja. And in Cullera, new this season, following in the footsteps of the pirate Dragut. Each destination has its own mystery to solve, in both the Halloween and Christmas versions. And a common thread: The Holy Grail.

We are a company that promotes values such as inclusion, family, and real-life experiences away from screens

Our activities are recommended by Tour & Kids, and we hold the PREDIF Accessible Tourism Seal of Approval. Inclusion is part of how we design every experience from the very beginning: we adapt the pace, language, and presentation so that the magic reaches the entire group equally, regardless of their background—whether you’re dressed up for Halloween or looking forward to a Christmas afternoon. The experiences in Valencia and Gandia are 100% accessible.
